…the triumph of the joy over the suffering is the story of this painting. A few of my paintings are like gessoed down motion pictures where I paint over the beginning and the middle of the story, leaving only the end to be seen.
At first, I painted the egret with its neck down and sad. Then I decided to lift its head up and face life bravely…

By The Moonlight
The bowed beak
pierces through the skin of fire.
Kicking the world inside out
with deep blind worries
and harsh arguments
the filtered ashes
try to feel lonely,
but there is too much
of them.
On the ashes of a tree
only one ornament
is needed-
an egret
who by the moonlight
learns to cry
with all the questions
and to rejoice
with all the answers.
